DTI Consults with Nkomazi Community on the Draft of National Liquor Amendment Bill and National Gambling Amendment Bill

The Department of Trade and Industry has held a meeting with the community of Nkomazi to consult with the community on the draft of the national liquor amendment bill and national gambling amendment bill. The mayor of Nkomazi Local Municipality Cllr Thulisile Khoza, together with her mayoral committee, councilors, CDWs, liquor dealers and the police were part of the meeting. The liquor amendment bill stipulates that the age restriction for people who are allowed to be inside the liquor outlets is moving from 18 to 21 years of age.

Premier Mabuza Commits Rehabilitation Centre, Industrial Park and Skills Hub For Delmas

Mpumalanga Premier David Mabuza has committed to build the rehabilitation centre, industrial park and skills hub aimed at benefitting the citizens of Victor Khanye Municipality. The Premier made the commitment on Friday at a meeting with the Victor Khanye Municipality business people, after they had complained to him about the environment that it was not conducive for their businesses to thrive. They complained to the Premier that the youth within their small town of Delmas were extremely involved in alcohol and drug abuse. They broke into their businesses and troubled their clients by pickpocketing on them.

Head Offices SA Ploughs Back

Christmas came early to the Nkomazi communities as Head Office SA donated school uniforms, gifts to hospitalised kids, clothes and food parcels to an orphanage centre. According to Head Office SA co-founder Shaun Battlemann, the organisation came down because of a lady who was born and raised at Schoemandsal. Thuli Magagula, who works at Head Office SA, said that she recommended to her employers that it was going to be a good thing if they donate to the community where she grew from. "The most important thing in the country is the future and these kids here are the future of South Africa and for them to lead the country to the right direction they must be educated. Head Office SA is here to make sure that the poor of the poorest don’t drop out of school because they either don't have shoes or a school uniform.

Nkomazi Municipality Visits Damaged Structures

Nkomazi Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Thulisile Khoza, Speaker Million Shongwe, Chief Whip Simon Mabuza and the municipality MMCs went around Nkomazi to check the damaged structures of the municipality. The visit follows a hail storm which attacked the Nkomazi sub-region few weeks ago. After the storm, members of the provincial parliament and Nkomazi Local Municipality Mayor, Cllr Thulisile Khoza, accompanied the department of Human Settlements’ MEC speedy Mashilo to check the RDP houses which were damaged by the hail storm. Houses, cars, business structures and hospitals are part of the things which were damaged by the storm.
